The fastest street circuit in the world, laid through the centre of a capital city.
Circuit — 6.003 km, 20 corners, 51 laps. The track climbs into the walls of the 12th-century Old City, where the road narrows to 7.6 metres — the tightest point on the Formula 1 calendar — then drops onto a 2.2 km straight along the Caspian Sea, the longest flat-out run in the sport. Top speed exceeds 340 km/h.
Character — Baku is Formula 1's least predictable race. Safety cars are frequent, overtakes on the main straight are constant, and the outcome is rarely decided before the final laps.
Schedule — Thursday: practice. Friday: practice and qualifying. Saturday: Grand Prix.
Getting there — Direct flights with many countries. The airport is 25 minutes from the circuit. E-visa online for most nationalities.
The city — The circuit runs past the Four Seasons, the Hilton and the seafront boulevard; the Old City and Fountains Square sit inside the track perimeter. Flame Towers light up the skyline behind the last corner.
Weather — 22–27 °C, sunny, with the Caspian wind that gives Baku its name: the City of Winds.
What's included
- The Castle Section — At Turns 8 to 12 the cars pass the 12th-century Maiden Tower and the fortress walls of the Old City through a gap 7.6 metres wide. Nowhere else in Formula 1 does a car run this close to a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- The Caspian Straight — 2.2 km flat out along the seafront, the longest full-throttle section on the calendar. Cars arrive at Turn 1 at over 340 km/h in the slipstream — the best overtaking spot of the season.
- Anything can happen — Baku has produced more surprise winners and last-lap reversals than any other modern circuit: Ricciardo from 17th on the grid in 2017, the 2021 restart with two laps to go that overturned the podium. No race here has ever been boring.

Icheri Sheher Grandstand

- Set against the fortress walls of Baku's Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Icheri Sheher is the circuit's most atmospheric grandstand. Cars pass metres below the medieval ramparts on the way into Turn 12, and the stand offers a clear view of the braking zone and the exit onto the run back towards the seafront.

- The Paddock Club is Formula 1's highest tier of hospitality. The suites sit directly above the pit lane at Baku City Circuit: from the terrace you look down on the team garages, the grid and the start/finish line. Pit stops happen beneath your feet.
